5 DIY Spring Home Project Ideas

After one long winter, I’m sure its quite comforting to feel the weather warming up more consistently! With previously frigid temperatures it’s easy to be content with temperatures that are more merciful on us. Not only do the transition of seasons manifest physically in nature around us, lifting our spirits and giving us renewed hope, but it also inspires us and gives us the urge to start cleaning out our homes for the ultimate transformations. Don’t let those home improvement shows scare you; transforming your home for the spring doesn’t have to break your pockets! Today, I’m going to show you some nifty DIY ideas that will really spruce up and enhance your décor.

Colander Flowers

Do you have a few old colanders lying around that you really don’t use a lot like that? Have you had a hard time finding flowerpots for your hanging flowers that really stand out? With a little bit of twine, you can secure colorful colanders for hanging while lining the inside with sheet moss to create the perfect potted environment for your beloved plants. With the many holes already in the colander, you will always be sure that the water is draining just fine!

Botanical Dressers

Although dressers may stay with us for a long period of time, the signs of wear and tear will eventually show. The thought of getting rid of these furniture pieces may hurt your heart, especially if they carry sentimental family value. Fortunately, you can preserve your dresser drawers by finding a lovely floral design to print out, cutting them to size, and then decoupaging it to the dresser with a glue. With a quick seal of clear acrylic, you will have a brand new bedroom set!

Rustic Vases

With their mesmerizing shapes and transparent nature, vases will always enhance home décor in a way that other décor items can’t. But sometimes you want to be a little different than the rest and add more excitement to the way you contain your flowers and other lovely valuables. With a few mason jars, use your foam brush to start placing some liquid glue in creative ways. After letting it dry for about a half hour, you can add the finishing touches of gold leaf for a truly vintage feel.

Recycled Fabric Pillows

If you are an avid sewer, then it would be no surprise that you will always have a few fabric scraps lying around. Although you may consider it the sacrificed excess of the beautiful things you created with it, you may also want to consider using those scraps to create a few patchwork pillows. Nothing should go to waste. These pillows would surely be a unique pattern not sold in stores!

Framed Organizer

Have some frames that are still waiting for the perfect picture to be fitted inside of it? Repurpose your frames by creating something a lot more useful with them. Using some mat board and strips to create pockets, you can mount and designate it as a mail sorter, keepsake keeper or even display a collage for pictures of friends and family that you can easily switch out!
