Many people find it hard to unwind and relax in their home, and it is often due to the countless things we have to do that are constantly on our minds. Relaxing is often easier said than done, so to make it easier on yourself, make sure you have a space that exudes a relaxing feel.
Read the following tips to help create serenity inside your home:
- Choose calming colors. Light blue shades have a calming effect and have been shown to decrease your heart rate. Use these colors in areas where you often reflect on your To Do list, such as your bedroom. Paint is a one-time investment that will pay for itself while you’re living a less-stressed life.
- Cut out the clutter. Though you may not be a hoarder, even small amounts of clutter around your house can make rooms feel overwhelming. Spend some time figuring out what you want to keep in each room and what you can toss. Donate items that are still in good condition to your local Goodwill. When your home looks more organized, you’ll be able to relax a little more easily.
- Swap out uncomfortable furniture. Fancy furniture looks nice in theory, but what you want after a long day is big pillows, fluffy soft blankets, and lots of room for you to sprawl out.
- Fake the spa experience. Add candles for serenity and green light bulbs to add a softer glow of light to each room.
Everyone should be able to find relaxation in their home. With a little time and imagination, you can create an environment in which you can kick back and relax. For help painting your spa-like retreat, contact the Belleville Painters at CertaPro Painters at 973-427-4478.
