Home Improvement Zodiac

Having difficulty deciding which project to tackle first? Maybe you think new roofing is prudent, but your spouse wants a new kitchen. Perhaps new windows seem practical, but you’re pulled toward better landscaping. Then again a fresh coat of paint might solve everything. Why not let the stars be your construction manager? Here is a guide for home projects for each sign.

Aries is usually assertive, fiery, and freedom loving. A classic DIY personality. These people need a garage workshop. No matter what your flavor: working on cars, woodworking, crafts, or starting your own business, the garage is where you become you. Garage unfinished? Lay some insulation, hang some drywall, (don’t forget heating and cooling) and you can be free to do what needs doing year round.

Taurus is typically referred to as indulgent, sensual, artistic, and strong. Think master suite with these folks. Men and women alike can indulge themselves in a deep Jacuzzi tub or even a large shower with dual shower heads. If price is not a factor, flat shower tiles can be installed to spray from all angles. Then slip on a terrycloth robe out of the walk-in closet, and ease into the great views out of the bay window.

Gemini is generally logical, active, multi-tasking, and sociable. It only makes sense to have a kitchen expansion. Now perhaps they already have the perfect kitchen. Then think outdoor kitchen. This increases the entertaining space, and allows for more outdoor enjoyment. Plus, for big gatherings, there’s twice the cooking capacity. Be sure to have a dishwasher and a sink installed out there. It doesn’t make sense to hike all the dishes inside after the evening’s gala.

Cancer is usually sensitive, family and home oriented, helpful, and nurturing. These nesters need a great family room. Cancer wants everyone together, and perhaps the best idea is a basement remodel for the whole family: a game room/teen hangout/tv room/home office. Whatever best suits your family. No basement? This is a perfect home addition because everyone will want to gather in the new space. That’s what it’s all about.

Leo is typically theatrical, attention hounds, who are creative and sunny. This group wants a pool. And not just any pool. One complete with a diving board, a slide, a sundeck for sun bathing, maybe even a lifeguard chair. They were born in the summer, and they like the sun, getting a tan, and showing it off. No room for a pool? A hot tub will do in a pinch. Warning! Cost of sunscreen not included in the cost of the pool.

Virgo is generally practical, work-focused, modest, and health conscious. A home gym and/or a gardening area are the best bet with these folks. We’d suggest a greenhouse if that weren’t so impractical. Gardens and home gyms are great ways for these people to keep moving once they get home, plus both are smart ways to stay healthy (gardening doubly-so).

Libra is thought to be balanced, diplomatic, lazy, yet refined and urbane. While anything would likely please them, a great dining room is right up their alley. But not just any dining room. This dining room needs the elegance to entertain royalty. Stately buffets and hutches, a broad expansive dining room table with high-backed chairs, covered by a stunning chandelier. They would never ask for it, but they so want it.

Scorpio is usually passionate, complex, creative, and mysterious. These people desire a better bedroom. Dark, fiery browns, reds, and yellows on the walls. An intense lighting pattern to throw shadows in the corners for that cast of mystery. A new bed frame, head and foot board. A lone chair in front of the floor-to-ceiling window to read from after a bath or shower.

Sagittarius is said to be careless, fun-loving, adventurous, and optimistic. The smart money here is on a deck or patio. These people like to explore, and going outside for dinner, drinks, or to chat with friends will satisfy the adventurous side of these souls. If you already have a deck or patio, it is an easy transition into an outdoor kitchen or adding a hot tub. Whatever you choose, make it fun.

Capricorn is given to be cautious, rigid, and authoritative. Installing storage in all parts of the house-garage, laundry room, basement-is likely to do the trick. In reality, these folks would prefer a garage sale to get rid of what is not needed rather than make room for it to stay. However, they will understand the thought of every piece of paper having a place to go. Don’t go crazy with this one. They are resistant to change. So just make some small additions a little at a time.

Aquarius is heard to be democratic, humanitarians, eccentric, and sophisticated. They would like breakfast nooks and conversation pits. These little additions add an interesting, older home texture with their unconventional eccentricity, while allowing people space to gather, commune, and dine. Conversation pits were attempted in the 70s and failed, and when you bring them back for these souls, they will understand the oddity of it, and its purpose.

Pisces is often imaginative, spiritual, artistic, and compassionate. Create some studio space for these artists. Now perhaps water colors or pastels ain’t your cup of tea, but think about sculpting, pottery, music, dance, writing. All their artistic leanings can be encouraged and deepened with the right space. Guest rooms, and especially outbuildings, are great for these remodels.

  1. Why do I need to post my address and phone number? I do not want to be bombarded with contractors calling me. I would prefer to call them.

  2. – Ohhhhhhhhh, I love it! Your dining room is perefct! I feel as though I am doing the same converting to neutrals with small pops of colour, instead of lots of colour all over the place.
