4 New Year Top Bathroom Trends

If your New Year’s resolution has been to remodel your bathroom, then you might be looking for a few ideas to create your perfect modern bathroom. The emphasis seems to lie in simple, natural and usable bathroom space by way of utilizing wood, light colours and simple lines, such as you’d expect to see in a spa retreat. Without doubt this year seems to be a good time for R&R in the bathroom.

Bathroom Vanity

• Luxury fixtures

Luxury bathroom makeovers have been gradually gaining momentum and don’t seem to be showing any sign of slowing down. Fixtures such as whirl pool tubs, saunas, steam baths and jetted showers are all luxury features worthy of spa status.

Bathroom

• Thrills and frills

Even if you aren’t planning a major renovation project, you’ll be pleased to learn that the cost of so called “frills” has come down as luxury models become more common place. A quick way of enhancing your bathroom is to add such things as an electric or radiator styled towel warmer, any of a choice of upmarket bathroom vanities for less, such as a floating vanity or a wood vanity with plenty of storage space; a LED colour changing shower head; or a backlit mirror. For bigger projects, under floor heating is a must and if you’re installing a new shower enclosure then adding built in water proof speakers and an iPod or MP3 dock means you can listen to your favourite music whilst showering. What bliss!

Bathroom Cabinet

• Going green

2013 is also the time to actively go green in the home. Dual flush and low flow toilets are a good long term investment and will save you money on your water bills. Waterless urinals are another way of saving water, and are a good idea if you have several men in your household.

• Nature

Nature is “in” in many ways for 2013 and means using nature inspired neutral colours and patterns. Colours like soft beige, cream, browns, white and grey, but brightening them up with a few pops of vibrant colour like blue, orange, green or even pink. Don’t go overboard; however, use these colours as accent colours such as in towels or in the pattern on a window blind. Wood is also going to be seen in more bathrooms, not just in wood bathroom cabinets but in veneers and wood patterned finishes such as in countertops and wood tile. This is plank sized tile that is printed with high definition images of weather wood, and when installed in the bathroom looks just like a wooden floor but is slip proof and water proof to boot.

These are just a few ideas for your modern bathroom and you can incorporate some of them into your space and enjoy your bathroom more.
