If you’ve got ten minutes, you’ve got time to get your sprinkler system fired up and ready for summer. In fact, it might take you longer to read this post than it will for you to get your system turned on and ready to go.
Step One
Grab a wrench and close the vacuum breaker located near the system’s manifold. Turn the knob clockwise until tight.
Step Two
Find the main water line and turn the valve leading from the line to the sprinkler system a half turn. This’ll allow water to flow to the system.
Step Three
Turn both valves on the vacuum breaker a quarter turn. This allows water into the manifold.
Step Four
Go to your sprinkler’s control box and turn on each zone one at a time. Watch each sprinkler head to make sure each is working properly. Note which are not and fix or adjust accordingly. Consult your owner’s manual or product website for repair instructions.

Step Five
Set your zone watering times according to your area’s watering restrictions and guidelines.
Step Six
Kick off the flip-flops and enjoy the wonderful feel of walking barefoot on your lush green grass.
