Welcome back to the last and final blog post for the HGTV Green Home! The parts of the home to tour are the front and back yards, which offer some unexpected design techniques and living spaces.

Front Yard

The front yard and porch of the HGTV Home is one-of-a-kind with an angled overhang, oriental and prairie style landscaping and a hidden fireplace sitting area.  The sitting area features contemporary-style recyclable sofas, two industrial-style coffee tables and a unique linear designed gas fireplace. Perfect for a summer night!

Features include:

• Cozy sitting area with a fireplace
• Bluegrass in the front yard that only needs watering biweekly
• Conifer trees that line the sitting area for privacy
• A patio overhang that was inspired by the shape of airplane wings
• Industrial-style coffee tables, handcrafted from sustainable wood

Deck

The backyard hosts a side deck adjacent to the dining room. The grilling station, outdoor sitting area, synthetic turf yard and large rocks from the Stapleton airport, coined “Staple Stone,” complete the HGTV Green Home.  Also, the roof of the house hosts a 5-kilowatt solar panel system that will generate 75 percent of the home’s energy.

Features include:

• A deck that is constructed from eco-friendly composite material
• Stainless steel, natural gas grill is encased in a shell of synthetic limestone
• Large pieces of Stapleton International Airport runway
• Modern dining area
