Homeowners often begin the remodeling process with big ideas. They talk of bold colors and dramatic changes before losing courage and settling on conservative, subtle update. Sometimes it can be difficult to commit to “Laser Lemon” in family room. Luckily, we know a way to go brilliant without being blinded.
PPG’s National Color Brand Manager, Dee Schlotter, recommends using exciting shades in the bathroom, where a little extra color can transform the entire atmosphere.

“A lot of times we tell people that if they want to experiment with paint color or wall color, choose a huge color for the powder room,” Dee says.
Adding vibrant paint color is an efficient way to make big changes. Like she notes in the video, a can of paint is an affordable and easy way to transform a room. It’s a tactic used by popular home improvement shows. The brilliant before-and-after moment is usually inspired by more aggressive wall colors, updating taupe to tomato. Ooh! Ahh!
Interestingly, big colors do not necessarily have to bright. One of the most popular combinations of winter 2012/2013 is a dark silver shade that is accented with chrome fixtures. It might seem dark and dramatic at first, but that seems to be a common theme.
