The Habitat for Humanity Restore gathers leftover materials as well as unused supplies from various work sites and donations across the country. The Restore offers consumers an affordable and beneficial resource for those looking to improve their home on a budget. For over 25 years the Restore has become a valuable facility for a myriad of people, offering affordable products to artists, craftsmen, and regular homeowners.
Ingrid Beckman of North Carolina creates profitable artwork from materials found at the Restore. Beckman designs and paints door panels for home decoration using raw materials from the Restore as well as chalk paint by Annie Sloan. Beckman states that she has known about the store for years and has purchased various materials for her private art studio. She first begins these magnificent artworks by first acquiring panels and supplies from the Restore.
Once the materials have been gathered, Beckman starts by cleaning the doorframe, and then applies a base coat of paint. After a second coat a reverse image is applied and laid out according to the client’s desires and color specifications. After the image has dried a protective wax overcoat is then applied and finally hooks and rope are attached to the top.
What makes these panels special is that they are completely customizable and can be made to order. Visit Ingrid Beckman’s studio, Artsytwins.com or on Facebook at ‘Art by Ingrid’. What a great idea for a customized holiday gift! If interested, please call Ingrid soon to place your order.
