Colors have amazing powers. They can make or break your décor, and have an even bigger effect on your mood. The best way to use colors in your house is to be very clear in your mind about the effect you are trying to create with them.

Golds, Greens, & Blues
All that glitters may not be gold but is certainly big at the moment and expected to get bigger. There are many colors to choose from, but the underlying idea is the same – a metallic tinge and an element of glitter.

Bring Back Some Old World Charm
What do zebras, penguins, pandas, and World War II footage have in common? They are all black and white.
This color combination seems to have an unshakeable hold on us. It’s basic, striking, and (quite evidently) timeless. The options in this regard are limitless; rugs, upholstery, black vases and white flowers, white desks and black leather chairs, white wardrobes and black metallic hangers, wrought iron chairs with white pillows and so on!

Pinks, Purples, & Fuchsias
The purple hue, officially known as radiant orchid is Pantone’s color of the year for 2014. On a side not, there is some speculation going around that Michelle Obama may have had something to do with it and it’s fitting because this color is all about strong femininity, which is a wonderful way of counterbalancing masculine colors and energies in an interior.
Since radiant orchid is not only vibrant but also pristine, you can’t go wrong with natural designs such as faux purple flowers in white vases or curtains and other upholstery with purple floral printing. We also suggest using this color to provide a pop of color rather than making it a dominant theme since it is a strong color and can feel overpowering very fast.
