Carpet in the kitchen is like carpet in the bathroom… it’s going to get wet. When you put flooring material that isn’t water-resistant in a room full of plumbing, the mess-potential should be enough to deter any homeowner. Carpet is slowly making its way out of bathrooms as proper homeowner evolution takes its course, but I just discovered that there are still kitchens that exist with a fully-carpeted floor. How disgusting!
The first thing I imagined was spilling flour from my cupcakes, followed by a couple drops of water from the measuring cup, combined perfectly on the floor to create a paste. How fun would that be to clean up? I can’t imagine how many spots would be on a kitchen carpet. I bet the person who invented laminate floors was just sick of jumping through hoops to clean up a mess.
I hate spilling stuff just as much as I hate cleaning it up. Carpet in the kitchen would be a constant reminder of how many accidents I had before the dish came out to the table. The last thing I want to do after I cook and eat is pull out my bulky carpet cleaner, let alone smell the spot cleaner mixed with my delicious masterpiece.
