Hmmm if you haven’t done so, it’s time to cleanup your kitchen. After all, the kitchen is one special place of your home that needs to be well maintained all the time. Remember the kitchen is where you prepare your food. Maintaining your kitchen free from germs and other unwanted smell is akin to scrubbing your hands prior to and after handling meat, chicken or fish.

It doesn’t take much to tidy up your kitchen. You just need the following: detergent or any liquid soap, disinfectant that would eliminate bacteria to an acceptable level, antibacterial products which are mostly a mixture of disinfectant and cleaner, baking soda, lemon and vinegar.

Once you have prepared the above cleaning chemicals and materials, you can now focus on the following major kitchen areas:

Sink

The sink should be the first to be washed. It’s because a sparkling sink will encourage you to clean as well your counters, dishwasher and the doors of refrigerators.  Using hot water, fill the sink to rim before adding regular bleach. Leave it for a while. After one hour, make sure you douse water in the sink. Once drained, you can now start scrubbing with the help of baking soda. Aside from being a natural cleaning agent, baking soda neutralizes odor in the kitchen. Surprisingly, the grease in kitchen is then turned into soap because of the baking soda. Rinse the sink again and then apply glass cleaning spray to make it look great and free from any germs.

Dishwasher

The dishwasher is the best to use when cleaning household odds-and-ends. Think about dirty plastic toys of your little ones, toothbrushes, sponges and other small items; they can easily be taken care of by your hardworking dishwasher. To get rid of dirt buildup, you can use vinegar after your empty dishwasher has been filled with water.

Microwave

At least once a month, you should get rid of the spills and splatters in your microwave. Prepare several slices of lemon and place them in a coffee mug with water. Position this on the center of the microwave’s tray and turn on the microwave and let it run high for less than 5 minutes. After turning off the microwave, leave the mug inside so that it will produce steam that would target food spills. Remove the mug and use lukewarm water which has been mixed with soap. Begin cleaning the remaining residue and wipe with a clean dishcloth. Allow the smell of the lemon to freshen your microwave unit.

Garbage Disposal

Do you know that vinegar can be used as a deodorizing agent? Basic compounds usually present in raw meat are neutralized. You just need to turn vinegar into ice cubes and drop them down the garbage chutes. Afterwards, use cold water to drain and lemon to leave your disposal area smelling fresh.

Appliances and Cabinets

Polish all your appliances with a stainless-steel cleaner and a piece of cloth. This way, all fingerprints and oil buildup in your refrigerators and other smaller appliances are removed. To get that added polish, apply a stainless-steel polish and then use a towel to burnish the polish.

Empty all contents of your cabinets before wiping the area with a microfiber cloth. Soak a sponge into a solution of warm water and dish soap. Clean the sponge with water as it becomes dirty. A clean towel or rag should then dry your work area.
