Top Tips for Small Bathroom Design

When you have a small bathroom, it can often feel as if as though the room is too cramped, and you can start to resent it. However, your small bathroom doesn’t have to be a pokey little cupboard of a room forever. Here, I will detail a number of top tips and design features, which will transform your cramped bathroom into a luxurious place, where you can rest, relax and begin to really enjoy the room.

Mirrors
When we talk about small bathroom design, mirrors are an essential feature. A quality mirror will add the illusion of increased size to the room, making it feel more spacious and comfortable than ever before. Infinity mirrors are good in this regard. They produce a clever optical illusion, with lights seemingly going endlessly into the distance, which gives the room added depth.
Mirrors are also important for bringing an added element of light to the room. They do this naturally by reflecting the sunlight, which spreads to every corner. However, you can improve upon this with an LED lit bathroom mirror. These mirrors are relatively inexpensive, yet the light they produce is extremely valuable, as it amplifies the beauty of your bathroom.

Storage Space
When space is at a premium in the bathroom, storage units can be invaluable additions. With little or no excess space, it is vital that you find a creative, compact ways to hold all of your bathroom toiletries. Wall mounted vanity units are great in this regard, as they take no floor space, whilst they offer a safe and secure location for all of your bathroom possessions.
Alternatively, sinks and/or basins with enclosed, underneath cabinets are a great way to maximize space in a small bathroom. This type of low-level storage is ideal for quick and speedy access to all of your bathroom products.

Light, Neutral Colors
Injecting light colors into a room is one of the best ways to make the whole bathroom appear larger. Don’t fall into the trap of plumping for plan white though; this actually makes the room seem bare and sparse. Instead, get a little creative and choose elegant, yet prominent colors, such as taupe and tan. Other colors, provided they are in muted tones, can be used as well, such as green, blue, orange and yellow.

You can further create an illusion of space by matching the top 8 inches of the bathroom walls with that of the ceiling. When the ceiling and the wall are painted the same color, it gives the impression of added height to the bathroom.

By implementing these small yet significant design techniques, you will be able to truly transform your cramped, pokey bathroom into one of light, luxury and, above all, space.
