And guess what? As the saying goes “Price is a terrible place to compete!  There is always someone willing to go out of business sooner than you!”

So, how do you uncover what makes you different?

Here’s the best way I’ve found:

Pick some of your previous clients, the folks who know you and your services the best. Then ask them the following questions:

  • Do you remember why you chose to work with my company?
  • What are our strengths?
  • What do we do that others don’t?
  • What frustrations do you about our industry as a whole?
  • If I were to ask you one word that best describes us, what would it be?

When you read the answers to your client survey, it’s amazing how often you’ll start to hear some common themes. You might be surprised. By asking your previous clients the questions above, you’ll be on your way to clearly understanding what makes you different and what separates you from the competition. Make yourself stand out!
